The project involves a new remote terminal near the existing Logan Express station in Framingham, approximately 40 kilometers from the airport. The pilot officially starts on June 1. In the first stage, it will be available only to Delta Air Lines and JetBlue passengers departing in the time window from 5:30 AM to 4:00 PM. On-site, they can undergo the standard airport process: check in for the flight, drop off baggage, pass through TSA control, and then board a secure bus that will deliver them directly into the sterile zone of Logan, essentially "behind security," closer to the boarding gate.

The practical side of the project is also thought out in quite a bit of detail. A ticket costs $9 one way for an adult passenger, and travel is free for children under 17. A spot must be reserved in advance, which can be done between 90 days and 90 minutes before departure. Buses are scheduled to run hourly from 4:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The site provides 400 parking spaces, and daily parking costs $7, which is significantly cheaper than typical rates directly at Logan. For some passengers, this means not only saving time on queues, but also a tangible saving of money.

It is also important to separately note that TSA PreCheck support is announced in the pilot. This means the service is aimed not just at a rare experiment for the experiment's sake, but at true integration into the current ecosystem of airport procedures. If Massport sees stable demand by the end of the summer, the next logical step could be the expansion to other Logan Express sites and the connection of new airlines.
